Community resources are services that are provided by the government. They can be local, state or national government services. Some examples could include public libraries, public parks, police, fire departments and even the post office.
Add the following fractions: 1 3 --- + --- 5 4
The first step is to find common denominators (make the bottom numbers match). To do this, you have to find a number that can be divided by both denominators (the bottom numbers in the fraction). The easiest way to do this is to multiple the two numbers together (5 x 4). When you multiple 5 x 4 then you get 20. Now, you have to multiply the numerator (top number) of each fraction by the number you multiplied on the bottom to get 20. For the first fraction, (1/5) you had to multiply the 5 by 4 so now you must do that to the top number (1). This now makes your first fraction 4/20. The second denominator was multiplied by 5 so you must multiply 3 x 5. Now your second fraction has become 15/20. Let's put them together now: 4/20 + 15/20. Since the denominators now match, all that's left to do is add the numerators. 4 + 15 = 19 so when you add the two new fractions together you get 19/20.
