I am a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from the Republic of Malawi (Southeast Africa), where I worked at a rural, under-resourced school as a teacher. I taught English, History, and Social and Development Studies to roughly 110 students using interactive teaching techniques. I also engaged students, teachers, school management, and the community to promote literacy and access to education as a human rights.
I am passionate and experienced in teaching. For the past year, I was a public school teacher through the U.S. Peace Corps at a rural high school in southeastern Africa. I taught 110 students using engaging teaching practices and maximization of minimal resources. In the same capacity, I also helped other teachers improving the school's overall instructional practices. In university, I designed my own "Great Books of the World" class in consultation with a faculty member., and worked as an English/Humanities tutor for approximately two years.
