Read the following poem by EE Cummings: i carry your heart with me i carry your heart with me )i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet) i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart) Now for each paragraph of the poem, put it in your own words, as if you wrote the work itself, and explaining what you meant to the reader. Summarize each paragraph from a personal point of view focusing on symbolism and the emotion behind the words.
When I began writing this poem, I was attempting to get across to the reader my never ending love for my love. I wanted the reader to understand that even though I may not always be with my love in physical form, she is always with me wherever I go. I wanted to let the reader know that even when we are away from each other, we are so close in heart and spirit that all of my actions and words in her absence are because of her as well. I continued to try to let the reader know that I feel like I should have fear of this love, because it is so intense that it should scare me. However, this is the opposite; my love makes me feel so whole that I have no fear of losing my world, for she is my world, and we will never be apart. In the final stanza,I intended to lead the reader into a bit of confusion about what my secret could be regarding myself and my love. I tried to explain the best I could, but in reality, I cannot tell the secret, because it is our secret, me and my loves. It is a secret that only our two hearts can explain to one another, and not for anyone else in the rest of the world to know.
