Answer:

A function in simple terms is a set of input values which gets processed and provide you an output. Say for example, you're a student your hardwork and value for education is your input. Your output will be high grades or a good gpa. If we look broadly everything related to us has functions involved. You are checking your weight in pounds and want to convert it into kilograms. Bamm theres a function for you. All of the latest scientific progression, is based on functions

Question:

Why when we divide a number by zero the answer is undefined but when a number tends to be zero the answer is infinity?

Answer:

This is the beauty of Mathematics and a simple question of the concept called Limits. See when we divide a number by zero, it is simply undefined because of the fact that any physical quantity cannot be divided by zero. You can't distribute 20 candies between zero friends. However, when a number tends to be zero or in other words the limit of it tends to be zero, it means it is approaching zero but is not actually zero say for example, the number 0.0000001 is close to being neglected and said as 0 but is not actually 0. Therefore, whenever a number is divided by a very small quantity, the result grows. For ex: 1/0.5 = 2, 1/0.1 = 10. SO when the denominator decreases the result increases tremendously, Thereby when a number is divided by a number that is approaching zero, the answer tends to be large enough and results in either positive infinity or negative infinity.

Question:

Why dividing anything with zero is undefined?

Answer:

Say for example you have 12 bananas, you have to equally distribute it to three monkeys. Its simple 12/3= 4. Each Monkey will receive 4 bananas. But if those bananas are divided within zero monkeys, nobody will get anything yet the answer remains undefined. Another alternative approach is the reverse method if 4 x 3 = 12 but 12 x 0 = 0. This explains that the reverse method is not giving an equivalent answer to the problem as it is resulting back with zero bananas. Hence this is classified as undefined.
