Question:

[Sentence Structure] Could you give me an example regarding the differences in sentence structure between Korean and English? Kor: 예수께서 말씀하셨습니다. "그것을 내게 가져오라." Eng: "Bring them here to me," he said.

Daniel L.
Answer:

As you can see in the example, Korean sentence structure explains the speaker followed by the comments. In the other hand, English is exactly the opposite. Although there are some exceptions to this rule, it is generally accepted by Native speakers. Tip: It is always good to remember that, besides the academic purposes, all languages do change over time and therefore there could be many exceptions.

Question: What does the Liquidity of securities imply?

Daniel L.
Answer:

A: Liquidity is a degree which securities can easily be liquidated (sold) without a loss of value. Some securities have an active secondary market, meaning that there are many willing buyers and sellers of security at a given moment in time. If the security is illiquid, it means that you might not be able to find many buyer and will take some time until you sell your security. Question:

[Fundamentals of Accounting] Q. Prepaid Insurance: Why can we not recognize and expense all these amounts on the day we paid?

Daniel L.
Answer:

A. Prepaid Expense means that you have paid the fees in advance for the specific coverage period. According to the Accrual Basis of Accounting and its Matching Principle, the expenses can be recognized only to the extent that the benefits are incurred or received. In this case, even though you have paid all the amount, you have to capitalize and record it as an Asset, and allocate the expenses as the benefits are received, which is the time period in this case. (Example 1) Journal Entry Dr. Prepaid Insurance $500 Cr. Cash $500 **And as the benefits are received through out the time, you can recognize it as an Insurance expense and include it in your Income Statement. Assuming the benefiting period is 5-years and 1 year has been passed. Journal Entry Dr. Insurance Expense (Income Statement) $100 Cr. Prepaid Insurance (Asset) $100 As a result, you will see the following changes in your Balance Sheet and Income Statement. ------------------------------------------ Prepaid Insurance $400 (B/S) Insurance Expense $100 (I/S) ------------------------------------------
