DNA Finger printing
DNA fingerprinting or genetic fingerprinting is a technique wherein a DNA sequence is used for identification of an individual. It is mostly used in forensics. Polymerase Chain Reaction and Short Tandem Repeats techniques are commonly used for DNA fingerprinting.
What are the Characteristics of living things?
1. Homeostasis- Keeping your internal environment relatively stable 2. Sexual and asexual Reproduction 3. DNA- store the complex information they need to live grow and reproduce in a genetic code 4. Stimulus- signal to which and organism responds 5. Metabolism- combination of chemical reactions through which an organism build up or breaks down materials
why are arteries called pressure reservoirs? Which artery is likely to have highest systemic pressure and why?
Arteries are called pressure reservoirs because they stretch and store mechanical energy. Their elastic fibers recoil and convert stored energy in the vessel into kinetic energy in the blood. Blood continues to flow through the arteries even when the ventricles relax. Elastic arteries are the largest arteries and have the largest diameter. They have well defined elastic lamellae, which allows their walls to stretch easily and accommodate surges of blood giving them the highest systemic pressure.
