Hi there! My name is Michael, and I’m from a small town outside of Phoenix, Arizona. I am a mathematician at heart, but I’m also a big fan of music, especially a cappella. I’ve been teaching students one-on-one for about 4 years, and I love the gift of seeing a child grow over the course of many years, or even many hours, mastering a concept that they had struggled with.
Here are a few things that might interest a prospective tutee/parent. I qualified for the USA Math Olympiad, and was an Honorable Mention in the USA Junior Math Olympiad,
I worked as the high-level math tutor at a Kumon tutoring center for 3 1/2 years for 16 hours a week, tutoring mostly 5th to 8th grade students from topics ranging from fractions to differential equations. I also spent 2 weeks (over 2 summers) as a camp counselor for a small math camp in Missouri.
Also, this year I was the youngest state coach at the National Mathcounts competition, having been the official teacher for the Veritas Homeschoolers middle school math team, which came in first in Arizona, weekly for the course of the school year.
