Question:

Simplify the expression: 2(x + 7) - 5(2y) + 9 = 4x - 7

Mykail J.

Answer:

2(x + 7) - 5(2y) + 9 = 4x - 7 2x + 14 - 10y + 9 = 4x - 7 -2x + 14 - 10y + 9 = -7 -2x + 21 - 10y + 9 = 0 -2x - 10y + 21 + 9 = 0 -2x - 10y + 30

Question:

Explain three different ways to mentally solve the equation 18 x 5.

Mykail J.

Answer:

1. Using the distributive property, we can break the number 18 into smaller known multiplication facts (10 x 5 and 8 x 5) and add the two answers together. (10 x 5) + (8 x 5) = 50 + 40 = 90 2. We know 20 x 5 equals 100. Therefore, we can just subtract remove the difference in the equations to find the answer. (20 x 5) - (2 x 5) = 100 - 10 = 90 3. We know the common fact 12 x 5 = 60. Therefore we can multiple what is left of 18, which is 6 and multiply that by 5. (12 x 5) + (6 x 5) = 60 + 30 = 90

Question:

What are the six levels of Bloom's Taxonomy? How do these levels affect the teaching process?

Mykail J.

Answer:

The six levels of Bloom's Taxonomy are knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. These six levels indicate the level of cognition achieved in the learning and/or mastery of a particular subject or lesson. The levels of Bloom's Taxonomy can be especially important when developing lesson objectives. It is important to vary the levels and tap into higher levels of cognition whenever possible.
