What is a good way to add suspense to a piece of fiction?
Suspense can be generated either organically or synthetically. With substantial practice, suspense can be deployed by a writer in a number of ways. The way time moves in a story, or pacing, can have a great effect on suspense. However, this can be difficult to accomplish well. To synthetically generate suspense there are a number of simple methods one can use. I am a fan of the "incoming hurricane" trope. If you write an incoming hurricane into your story, there is going to be a natural level of suspense. Reader's will recognize the impending storm (in this example) and understand the tension. These are just a few ways to work tension into a piece of fiction.

How has colonialism influenced religion in Africa?
Broadly speaking, colonial had a greater impact on religion in Africa than any other force. Not only did religious activities sponsored by colonial powers actively attempt to subdue and subvert native African religious traditions, but they also sought to subjugate the residents of their colonies as sub-humans. Overall this has led to a number of nuances throughout African religious traditions. For instance, Islam in Africa blends elements of native African religions and stood as a powerful force against colonial activities.
How does the English language, as it functions in society, dictate the ways in which we can understand and interpret the experiences of our everyday lives?
Because, as English speakers, everything we know is in English, the language itself acts as the infrastructure for all of our thoughts. That means that, without the English language, we would be incapable of ascertaining the meaning behind events in our lives. While this can be construed positively it can also be limiting. You see because we think and feel in English, we are relegated to the structures of that particular language. There are certain things that simply do not translate into the English language and through our use and dependence on it we risk missing out on a range of exterior ideas.
