Differentiate between bactericidal and bacteriostatic antibiotics.
Antibiotics are medicines that inhibits the growth or destroys bacteria. Antibiotics can be divided into two categories; bactericidal and bacteriostatic antibiotics. Bactericidal antibiotics kill bacteria directly through various methods such as injuring the plasma membrane, inhibiting cell wall synthesis etc. In contrast, bacteriostatic antibiotics stop the bacteria from growing or replicating. Bacteriostatic antibiotics do this by inhibiting protein synthesis, altering the pH conditions in the cell etc.
Write about a neighbourhood you recently visited.
Jackson Heights is a neighborhood situated in northwestern Queens and is abundant with South Asian and Latin American culture, attributed to the large influx of immigrants from these regions. Apart from the enticingly rich and diverse food the neighborhood is famous for, it is the borough’s centre of gay culture and annually hosts the both the Queens Pride Parade and the Multicultural Festival that take place in the summer. Jackson Heights is also known for its garden design and urban planning, marking it as a historic district. As I wandered around looking for a restaurant to have lunch in, I noticed a few things about the neighborhood. There were no villas, bungalows, or individual housing. Most of the buildings that lined the roads of the neighborhood were five to six stories apartments. A lot of them were made of brick and they did not loom over Jackson Heights like the skyscrapers in Manhattan. The whole planning and architecture of Jackson Heights resembled typical suburbs more than the chaotic and rumbling city life. Life here seemed peaceful, full of serenity, and resembled a neighborhood that was perfect for people to raise children in or for older citizens to retire and live a quiet life.
