Question:

What is Broken Windows Theory?

Kevin T.
Answer:

Broken Windows Theory is the sociological theory that controlling smaller and less serious crimes leads to a reduction of more serious crime such as assault, rape, etc. This theory was most famously put to the test by New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani who made harsher penalties for crimes, such as public urination and littering. The measures were controversial as critics said the new measures adversely hurt people of color, while proponents cited statistics in New York City that saw a reduction of all crimes across the board.
