Question:

What is one was to minimize the amount of material that must be reviewed before an exam?

Catherine P.
Answer:

You can simply take a "pre-test" or practice test by taking an organized version of all the material and test yourself without referring to notes on everything that will possibly be on the exam. Although seemly time consuming, this will help you rule out things you already understand and minimize the amount of things you need to thoroughly go over.

Question:

Sally has a pie ready that is cut in eight pieces. She has four guests and each one wants pie. Sally does not want pie and she does not want any pie left over. How will Sally evenly distribute the pie?

Catherine P.
Answer:

Since Sally does not want pie, you do not need to include her in this calculation. That leaves 8 pieces of pie to be evenly distributed between 4 people. You would divide the number of pieces by the number of people and come up with 8/4= 2 You can also notice that 8 is a multiple of 4. 8 is double (2) of 4 and therefore each person will get two slices of pie.

Question:

During the 2016 presidential election, news outlet CNN was in favor of one of the two major party candidates. Down to the thumbnail photos of the two that frequently reappeared on the channel, the group's opinion was clear. Explain.

Catherine P.
Answer:

As exampled by their power of selectivity in news coverage and the general vocal opinion of some of the news anchors, CNN favored Hillary Clinton. The photographs that CNN had of each candidate were lit and posed differently. Donald Trump's face is lit more from the bottom, and his eyes squinted, replicated the menacing look of an evil character. Hillary is looking more straight on, her face lit with an extra light that is flattering to her features. She is smiling and frankly glowing compared to Mr. Trump. In other variations of the two, CNN tended to show Trump's face slightly crooked or wayside, and Hillary's head was always tilted higher in a more dignified manner. These are conscious decisions made by the news network.
