How do I keep my essay from becoming a summary of the article that I am writing it over?
The important thing to remember when writing an essay over a research article is to make your own claim regarding the article and use the evidence from the article to support. The claims should be entirely your own thoughts and each effectively supported by two to three pieces of evidence from the research article. You can do this by making an outline starting only with your own thoughts for the thesis and individual claims, and then fill in the rest of the outline with your pieces of evidence from the research article.
How can I write an effective/strong thesis statement?
Your thesis statement should be a claim that can be supported with significant evidence, but can also be disputed. The thesis should be YOUR interpretation of the subject manner and should be written in a way that gives you the advantage when it comes to supporting the thesis. In the thesis you should also give a brief, 3-5 word, road map of where the paper will be going. If you have any questions, or wish for me to read over your thesis ,then I would be happy to do so.
The ApplyTexas essay questions can either be very straightforward or quite unique. What advice would you have for answering these different essay questions?
Essays can certainly be quite the feat to complete, however, they are not impossible to write and I can certainly work with you to help your essay stand out. My advice for the straightforward essay questions would be to stick to the point. Answer exactly what the question is asking, without making it too flowery. These essays are straightforward for a reason, so your answer should follow that same format. The unique or creative questions leave a lot more room for the imagination. That being said, you have to stay true to who you are. Show your creativity, but do not completely disregarding who you are and what you could actually bring to that potential university.
