Why is literature important? Why should I care about it?
Literature is a deep part of our culture and history as Americans, and is important to become a well-rounded individual. Learning as much as you can about different subjects - reading as much as you can - improves your reading and writing skills along with your vocabulary and ability to converse with others. Reading and having knowledge of different genres of literature helps to make each individual more openminded and worldly.
Why is grammar relevant to those who may not be pursuing a future in English?
Grammar is often overlooked by those who are not interested in English as a subject or feel that their future is not impacted by the use of proper English. However, it is important to become a contributing member of society, regardless of the path chosen. In order to do that, one must be as educated as possible. This is directly impacted by the use of proper grammar in everyday life.
What is the most important aspect of education: parent involvement or student behavior?
While both answers are vastly important and can be argued for, one must consider which part of a student's education is more deeply impacted by these things. Parent involvement inevitably increases a student's chance for success, and lack of involvement can lead to negative behavior in students. Ultimately, the student is only in control of his or her actions, not the actions of others. Managing student behavior is more important in this case.
