What is a dangling modifier?
Dangling modifiers are common grammar flaws that crop up on the SAT reading/enlgish portion. Take for example the following sentence: "Wearing a cloak and top-hat, the audience was dazzled by the magician." In this sentence, it appears that the audience is wearing the cloak and top-hat; when in fact, we know that magicians wear top-hats. To fix this sentence, the subject should come after the comma "the magician."
