Question:

What are the joys of working and supporting middle school students?

Christina D.
Answer:

The joys of working with adolescent youth are curiosity and inquiry. This transitional stage from childhood to adulthood implores knowledge while there is an increased sense of decision making. Such desire provides unique opportunities to speak into the underlying needs and knowledge sought after. The challenge is similar as you observe their changes ing growth and development and the ever-changing world around them as it relates to both the physical and digital world. It is an honoring and humbling task to be a part of the educators contributing to the holistic growth of our youth.

Question:

How may technology be used to support research and learning?

Inactive

Answer:

For me, technology is always at the core of how I support students because it is truly at the center of their everyday lives. I use technology to teach information literacy with databases; capture student work and process; stimulate questioning and curiosity; enhance the student learning experience; bring clarity to projects/endeavors; differentiation; summarize information; build empathy and compassion; and so much more. For me technology is not an inconvenience or add-on--it is an opportunity to take what we know how to do and enhance it for deeper learning.
