I hold and MFA in nonfiction writing, an MLIS from Valdosta State, and have experience in libraries and as a writing teacher. I have also taught Spanish in a private school.

I helped lead a creative writing group for HIV positive teens in NC for three years. The group, Teens Out Loud, was funded through a partnership with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I also taught 3rd-8th grade Spanish for one semester (maternity leave coverage) at the Friend School of Wilmington in Wilmington, NC. I also taught writing and critical rhetoric for one summer for the Duke Talent Identification Program. I currently work in public libraries in Portland, Oregon, where I serve both adults and children.
