What is the cause of myocardial infarction?
The cause of MI is when an atherosclerotic plaque becomes lodged in one of the many small vessels which supply blood to the tissue of the heart. When blood flow is obstructed, the heart becomes ischemic and oxygen is not delivered to the tissue.
