What do you think are the societal impacts of theatre?
Theatre is a universally recognized way to convey thoughts and ideas, regardless of race, gender, and socioeconomic status. Theatre brings together people of all different backgrounds, and tells timeless tales which all humans relate to in one way or another. You can see a part of yourself in nearly every character, and the psychology of understanding characters helps you only grow your own understanding of humanity.
What is your approach to understanding literature?
Analyzing literature is like being a detective--breaking an essay or novel into smaller pieces, then putting them back together to create a better understanding of what the author is trying to say, then finding your own voice in how the piece has spoken to you.
What is one step you could make as an educator to change the vast inequality in resources that our educational system has?
Breaking stigmas by career choices can help counter this. By putting passionate teachers in at-risk schools, this could bring more resources and attention to schools who are struggling.
