Many students struggle with procrastination. What are some strategies you could use to improve your ability to get started on a project and stick it?
There are many strategies that can help decrease procrastination. These include making a list of priorities, breaking tasks down into smaller manageable tasks, scheduling activities in a calendar/planner, scheduling short breaks throughout the day, and setting up rewards for yourself when you reach intermediate goals along the way toward completing the task.
You are a therapist working with a client reducing trauma-related symptoms. You plan to use Prolonged Exposure to desensitize them to the trauma. However, each week they want to focus on finding better housing because their heat has not been working for weeks and their landlord is unresponsive. How would Maslow explain the client's inability to engage in higher-level trauma-focused work?
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, individuals need to have more basic needs met before they can move toward higher-level needs. Reducing trauma symptoms is a higher level need relative to the client's primary concern of physical comfort and safety.
You are curious about the typical age of the students in your class. You take a confidential poll and calculate the average age, which is 26. You, and most of your classmates, are 19 years old. How is this possible? Is there a better way to represent the typical age for this class?
There is likely an outlier in the data. One older student could skew the data when calculating the mean. You could use the median age to more accurately represent the typical age for this class.
