A peer-reviewed article is an article that has been submitted to a journal that is then scrutinized by a board of reviewers who are experts in their fields. The review process includes verification of information, research quality, and adherence to publication guidelines. Only after a peer-review process can an article be published in a scholarly journal.

The drive behind the Social Security Act was to ensure that the millions of people who were elderly, disabled, unemployed, and/or dependent children would receive assistance so as not to fall into poverty. It was funded through taxes on employers and employees and distributed to beneficiaries upon reaching the required criteria.
