Question:

What is RevPAR, and how do you calculate it?

Inactive
Samantha S.
Answer:

RevPAR is short for 'revenue per available room" and defines a hotel's ability to fill available rooms at its average rate. The formula to calculate RevPar is ADR (Average Daily Rate) x Occupancy Rate. Ex: A hotel has 100 rooms and their occupancy rate is 80% with an average cost of $100 per room a night. $100 per night x 80% occupancy = RevPAR of $80.00.

Question:

I didn't do a lot of extra-curricular activities in high school, so how do I make myself stand out on a college application?

Answer:

Colleges care more about the depth of your experiences rather than the breadth of them. Did you excel in a certain class and assist other students? Did you ever volunteer outside of the school? Do you have a hobby you're passionate about such as art, building computers, or writing? And be certain to describe yourself using detailed adjectives and specific examples; you want the college to have a clear picture of who you are as an individual.

Question:

What are the characteristics of nouvelle cuisine? Haute cuisine?

Inactive
Samantha S.
Answer:

Nouvelle cuisine ('new cuisine') is a style of French cooking that embraces fresh and light ingredients, inventive methods and culinary tools, and keeps in mind the dietary needs of the consumer. Haute cuisine (high cooking) is an older style of French cooking that favored rich, exotic, and often expensive ingredients to be served with complex preparation methods and presentations. Think lots of butter, caviar, truffles, and a twelve-course plating of it all.
