Question:

What is the difference between fraternal and Identical twins?

Inactive
Anmol L.
Answer:

Fraternal Twins : this type of twins result from the fertilization of two different egg cells by two different sperm cells during the same gestation period. They may or may not share the same gender. Like any other siblings they carry 50 father.% genetic material each from the mother and the father. They are also known as Dizygotic Twins. Identical Twins - In this category of twins, the fertilized egg or the zygote splits after fertilization. So in this case both the zygotes share the exact same genetic material(same gender, appearance etc). They are also known as Monozygotic twins.
