Question:

What is your philosophy of teaching?

Answer:

I want to teach because I think teaching is an extremely important profession. Teaching is what helps students grow and learn. I want to be the person that children can look up to and get help from when they are in need. Behind every school and every teacher is a set of related beliefs that influences what and how students are taught. A philosophy of education represents answers to questions about the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s love, and what should be taught and by what methods.. An effective teacher includes one who has strong classroom management skills, ability to differentiate instruction, and the ability to build in a way that every student can learn. Some students learn visually, some students learn auditorily, and some students learn kinesthetically. Working with student interests and needs, teachers serve as guides and facilitators in assisting students to reach their goals and become independent thinking adults. In my classroom, I will act as the facilitator, and students will be responsible for their own learning. I will develop a relationship with every student in a personal way so the students feel the connection. Students are motivated to learn by their peers and the teacher who is guiding them. I think the purpose of schools is to build civic development, cognitive development, vocational development, emotional development, and social development. I will work toward this goal in my teaching and set an example for my students by seeking out professional development. I believe the materials, activities, and organization in the classroom are designed to meet the needs of children whether or not they have a disability. I will help students adapt and accommodate to the real world. I wish to help students grow socially and emotionally. Students with and without disabilities need assistance in compensating for intellectual, behavioral, or physical challenges. Teaching is what helps students grow and learn. Every student learns differently. The teacher should encourage every student to do their best. A teacher needs to be someone that every student can look up to. I plan to be that for my future students.
