How does the Hellenistic period differentiate itself from former periods of Greek art and give an example of a piece of work from this time?
The Hellenistic period is the fourth major period of ancient Greek art. Artists during this time continued to explore the human form, but from a more naturalistic way. Poses, lighting, expressions and overall compositions are also distinctly more dramatic than previous eras. Laocoon is a quintessential piece from the Hellenistic era.
