There are two mistakes in the following passage. Correct them and explain why they are wrong. Sally went to pick up her brother from the airport, he was arriving at 11:15 am. He was bringing her clothes, snacks and technology accessories from his trip to Thailand, and she couldn't wait knowing that she got them for very cheap.
Sally went to pick up her brother from the airport; he was arriving at 11:15 am. He was bringing her clothes, snacks, and technology accessories from his trip to Thailand, and she couldn't wait knowing that she got them for very cheap. The first mistake was a comma splice in the first sentence. Both were independent clauses which always need to be separated, either by a semicolon, a comma with a coordinating conjunction, or simply a period to separate the clauses. The second mistake was the missing Oxford comma in the series of things Sally was receiving from her brother. When writing series', it is important to use commas to differentiate items or ideas. Otherwise, it could potentially become confused for one item all on its own (for example, salami, cheese and crackers, and grapes versus salami, chesse and crackers and grapes).
There are many different factors that could affect a couple when they get married. What are three of them and how do they affect them?
Some of the biggest factors that could affect a couple wanting to get married would be their social class, their religious background, and their racial/ethnic backgrounds. When two people grow up in two different social class settings, dealing with finances and even lifestyle can be very different when they get married. If someone grows up in a household that could barely make ends meet but marries someone who never had to think twice about having enough money, there could be conflict if one person is too focused on micromanaging finances while the other one is too lenient with spending. In regards to religious background, two religions may have very different beliefs in one another which could bring up many issues on when to worship, where to worship, giving money to a house of worship, and how to treat people from different backgrounds. With racial/ethnic background differences, traditions will differ similarly to the way religion may be affected. For example, if someone from the Philippines marries an Australian, there may be differences in regards to family values and the amount of obligation one may place to their families, among other things.
What is the average time frame for recycled fashion trends? What are some examples?
On average, fashion trends will recycle themselves every twenty years. The most notable example in recent times would have to be the resurgence of 90's fashion in the last few years with the comeback of chokers, the "grunge" style, and overalls.
