EPD's or Expected Progeny Differences are estimates of the genetic value of an animal that predict the expected performance difference of the offspring of an animal within the same breed. For instance when comparing the Weaning Weight EPD of two animals. If the first animal has a Weaning Weight EPD of 30 and the second has a Weining weight EPD of 27. You would expect the offspring of the first animal to weight 3 pounds more at weaning than the offspring of the second animal.
