Question:

The nurse is visiting a client who is at 21 weeks gestation. The client complains of nausea, blurred vision and a headache. The nurse notes the client appears nervous, sweaty and is experiencing tremors. It would be most important for the nurse to ask which of the following questions? A) Have you been diagnosed with Type 1 or 2 diabetes? B) Have you been lying down most of the day? C) Are you experiencing menstrual-like cramps? D) When did you last eat or drink?

Answer is D. If she has not eaten or drank anything in a while, it may be the reason why she is experiencing all these symptoms. The other questions are also important but we first want to note her recent activity leading up to the symptoms.

Question:

What are the two major categories that metabolic pathways could follow?

1) Anabolic pathway: this is involved with the synthesis of compounds which constitutes the body's structure and requires ATP energy (i.e. glycogen synthesis, protein synthesis). Hormones that are involved with this help build fuel stores, thus why they require energy for this process. 2) Catabolic pathway: this involves oxidative processes that release energy (i.e respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation). Hormones that are involved with this help break down stores.

Given the equation: 2(-3x + 2) + (x + 4)= 18 We must first simply the equation by multiplying the factors as followed: -6x - 4 + x - 4 = 18 We then group the like terms (in this case, the numbers and x's) as followed: -5x + 8 = 18 We then bring all the constants (numbers) to one side of the equation: -5x = 10 To isolate X, we must divide both sides by -5 to get ride of the constant: -5x/-5 = 10/-5 Solution: x= -2
