What is life long learning and why is it important?
Life long learners are motivated and interested in learning new things all the time. Lifelong learning enhances our understanding of the world around us and provides us with better opportunities to improve the quality of our life. Acquiring new skills will unveil new opportunities and help us find innovative solutions to problems. Learning new things gives us a feeling of accomplishment, which in turn boosts our confidence in our own capabilities.
Building rapport is a critical part of any communication. One of the tools involves active listening and using keywords. Explain what we mean by this.
To build rapport we need to speak in the language of the person we are communicating with. If you want people to feel that you are really listening to them, listen for keywords and use these words in conversation. Do not use jargon if they don't. Do not use synonyms - for example if they say "I went to the shops" do not ask "What did you do at the mall?" Even though "shop" and "mall" might have similar meaning we need to use their words and not our own.
To be a successful manager, you will need to understand what 21st century skills are needed in today's business environment. List at least 7 of these skills. Choose 2 of these skills and explain why you believe it is relevant in the current business environment
Any of the following could be listed: Critical thinking Creativity Collaboration Communication Information literacy Media literacy Technology literacy Flexibility Leadership Initiative Productivity Social skills Critical thinking - The ability to process information, think clearly and systematically is important to enable managers to make the correct decision, understand the route cause of challenges, improve the way they are able to express their ideas and and improve their communication to a variety of different audiences. Collaboration - gone are the days that we work in isolation. Our competitors could also be our business partners. By working together with other people, we are able to combine our resources to achieve more than we thought possible. Competition is very high in the market place. One of the ways in which we can differentiate ourselves is by collaborating with business partners who's offering compliments ours. This will enable us to offer a value added product to our clients.
