What is a citation and why is it important?
When you research a topic, you are gathering information from other people’s work. You have to give credit to the author whose words or ideas you’re using. By citing the source, you’re giving credit to the author. Citing sources is important because it shows readers that you are a responsible student, your information is correct, and also provides them with a way to look through sources for additional information on a subject.

How did the Birmingham campaign motivate the Kennedy administration in the Civil Rights Movement?
The Kennedy administration was concerned about foreign attitudes towards the United States and the American public was shocked by images from Birmingham, causing them to push for change. Riots moved on to new cities making it affect the entire nation, rather than a small pocket of the country.

What is the importance of the Battle of Bouvines in Medieval Europe?
The Battle of Bouvines grew out of a conflict between King John of England and the English nobles. Shortly after the conflict began, each side found their own allies. John of England found an ally in Otto IV of Germany, who also held the title of Holy Roman Emperor. On the other hand, Philip Augustus of France sided with the nobility. While the Battle did not take long, it was a decisive victory for the nobility of England. The victory gave the German electors the ability to replace Otto IV with a new Holy Roman Emperor. Philip Augustus won the opportunity to thwart John of England, who he had a falling out with on their journey to the Crusades. Finally, the English nobles forced John of England to sign the Magna Carta, thus outlining the rights of Englishmen and gave the nobility much greater power.
