Subject: Computer Science (General)
Name and describe the four components all computers have in common. Give examples of each for the following devices: Desktop computer Laptop computer Smartphone
Input, Storage, Processing, and Output Input is when the information is put into the computer. Storage is when the info is stored and ready to be processed. Processing is when is info is used. Output is when the info is all processed and ready to be used. Desktop computer: Input => Keyboard, Mouse, Microphone Storage => Hard Disc Drive, Floppy Disk Drive, Digital Video Drive (DVD) Processing => Central Processing Unit (CPU) Output => Monitor, Printer, Speaker Laptop computer: Input => Keyboard, Mousepad, Microphone Storage => Hard Disc Drive, Universal Serial Bus (USB) Flash Drive Processing => Central Processing Unit (CPU) Output => Monitor, Printer, Speaker Smartphone: Input => Touchscreen, Microphone, Power button, Volume buttons, Camera, Biometric Scanner Storage => Solid State Hard Drive Processing => Central Processing Unit (CPU) Output => Touchscreen, Speaker
Solve the following equation for x, show all work and describe each step. 5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = - 4(4x + 5) + 13
5(-3x - 2) - (x - 3) = - 4(4x + 5) + 13 1. Multiple the constants with the expression inside of the parentheses. 5(-3x - 2) => -15x - 10 - (x - 3) => - x + 3 - 4(4x + 5) => -16x - 20 2. Rewrite the equation with the results from step 1. -15x - 10 - x + 3 = -16x - 20 + 13 3. Combine like terms (x terms with x terms, constants with constants) on each side of the equation. -15x - x => -16x -10 + 3 => -7 -20 + 13 => -7 4. Rewrite the equations with the results from step 3. -16x - 7 = -16x - 7 5. Move all x terms to one side of the equation. -16x - 7 = -16x - 7 +16x +16x 6. Rewrite the equation with the results from step 5. 0 - 7 = 0 - 7 7. Simplify the equation. -7 = -7 8. What is this solution called? Identity 9. Why? All x values result in the equation being true.
