How does an electromechanical generator work?
The basic idea of an electromechanical generator is converting kinetic(mechanical) energy into electrical. This simply requires a moving(rotating) coil in a magnetic field. There are two types of generators: 1- AC generator: where the output voltage is alternating with time (commonly used now) 2- DC generators, where the output voltage is fixed with time (rarely used now)
Is MATLAB important to electrical engineers and students? Why?
Yes, it is important for electrical engineers. It has dozens of uses, I will try to mention some of them: Mathematical Uses: solve linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, ordinary differential equations, interpolations, curve fitting, 2-D and 3-D plots, optimization problems, linear programming, and more. Power Engineering: Nonlinear modelling and Real-Time simulation of electrical power systems, including demos for wind turbines and photovoltaics. Computer Engineering: Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, fuzzy logic toolboxes.

What does DC current mean? What does AC current mean? Which of them is used at home? Why?
"DC" means Direct Current, it is a current that flows in a circuit in a fixed direction and it has a constant magnitude(value) "AC" means Alternating Current, it has a value that changes periodically with time. At home we use BOTH, AC source can be obtained from wall outlets, whereas DC source can be found in chargers (phones or laptops). All electronic devices have are based on DC circuits.
