Question:

What are the most important things to consider when writing a persuasive essay?

Answer:

Always keep your purpose forefront and ensure that everything you do works towards conveying this effectively. Consider your audience, subject, and ensure the tone is appropriate so that you are 'speaking' in the correct written 'dialect'. Grammar, spelling, and structure matter only for effective communication- though this might seem sacrilegious, if your grammar or spelling is not impeding a reader's ability to understand, it does not have to be textbook perfect. (For instance, starting a sentence with "and"). Structure will be the way that you guide your reader through your argument and your essay, and thus matters in order to make your thought process cohesive and easy to follow.

Question:

What is a good way of organizing the tasks you must complete per day?

Answer:

Write out all of the assignments and tasks you currently have on your plate, then order them based on priority and the closeness of the deadline. Order these assignments through a rhythmic pattern of easier tasks, to keep up productivity, and one big task to finish, with breaks in between. For example, >Read Political Science Article (15 pages) >Send Emails to Professors >Outline essay due in two weeks (break) >Read Psychology article (12 pages) >Review unit 2 notes for your upcoming test (break)

Question:

In "Mourning Grace" by Maya Angelou, the author utilizes sentence structure and formatting to convey her meaning. What specific technique does she use, and what is it trying to convey?

Answer:

Maya Angelou begins her poem with more traditional formatting, setting a phrase each line and a continuous rhythm. As the character in the poem "race(s) headlong", the words flow one at a time, like the trickle of tears, making the words tumble down and giving each one emphasis and making the reader think more in considering the last question of the poem as they have to work to put together the words and then consider the meaning.
