Answer:

In essay writing, a thesis statement is one to two sentences that inform a reader of the subject of the paper. Typically, thesis statements are somewhere in the introduction of an essay, and they show what the writer will be discussing or trying to prove in her paper.

Question:

What is "repair" in conversation analysis (CA)?

Answer:

"Repair" is when a speaker corrects themselves as they are taking a turn speaking in conversation. 'Repair' can be used to show a change in footing, a change in power, or reveal a practical slip. Example: "I went to the st-to Walmart" Here, the speaker begins to say "to the store" but corrects himself to say "Walmart."

Question:

How do you put the following sentences into the past tense?: She walks to the store to look for potato chips. When she finds them, she pays for them and leaves.

Answer:

"She walked to the store to look for potato chips. When she found them, she paid for them and left." Place verbs into the past tense by adding an -ed ending, or use the irregular past tense ending such as "found", "paid", and "left." Note that verbs inside prepositional phrases do not change tenses: "to look for potato chips" stays the same in either tense.
