What country in South America was not landlocked at the point of its creation and later became landlocked?
Bolivia is landlocked due to the War of the Pacific between itself, Peru, and Chile. The war was fought over mineral rights in the region known as Tacna and Arica. While it looked like an extra appendage (and a random piece of land), Bolivia's access to the sea was critical to its independence and strength. After the war, Bolivia transformed into a state dependent on imports and the economic policy of other states. However, the land Bolivia lost became a point of contention between Chile and Peru.

Many historians argue that the Cold War ended between 1989-1991. Discuss why or why not this is correct.
The period between 1989 and 1991 demarcated a clear shift in the happenings of the Cold War, particularly due to the economic collapse of the USSR. The internal collapse brought on by an inexpensive arms race, the social opening of society, and a series of liberalizations across Soviet-controlled territories changed global political dynamics. The Soviet collapse did not just mean that the US was more stable or had more influence in the world. The collapse of the USSR had ramifications across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Cuba no longer had Soviet funding and turned to a liberalization/social opening in order to survive. (Cuba also eventually turned to Venezuela to be their foreign supporter and oil provider). Across Asia and Africa, different proxy wars came to an end as Soviet resources dried up leaving states in disarray and without definite conclusions to conflicts. In Europe, the fall of the Berlin wall in 1991 marked a symbolic and powerful end to the hold of Soviet leadership in Europe and across the world.
