Questions
Subject: TOEFL
Is TOEFL hard?
Learning a new language alone is hard, then to break it down to a science through testing makes it harder to determine difficulty. TOEFL tries to be a one-size-fits-all questionnaire but every person learns in a unique way at their own pace.
Subject: Religious Studies
What role do you think religion should play in science?
In my opinion religion and science go hand in hand. You can not have one without the other. To study science and watch the miracles that take place from simple things such as chemical reactions to more intrinsic subjects like the study of childhood trauma and how it affects adulthood, it's almost impossible for me to see the facts and not see where it all comes from. A commenter on a forum I recently read put it best, "Spirituality is a melange of mental and emotional states. To me understanding something about say bio-sonar, or the genetic accession of migratory routes (as in monarch butterflies) puts me in a state of awe and wonder. I would like to understand these phenomena better, and scientific methodology gives me some tools for this inquiry."
Subject: English as a Second Language
Is English a difficult language to learn?
YES! English is a very difficult language to learn. English borrows from many other languages. English can take an entire word from another language or maybe just part of one word and combine it with part of another word to make a new word. Many languages follow rules. There may even be exceptions to those rules, but generally, the language will be consistent with the general rules. There are rules in English, but there are so many exceptions and special situations, that the rules are not necessarily much help. English is a collection of contradictions and irregularities.
