Question:

What are the core elements of a five paragraph essay? How can you tweak this structure to give the piece of writing a voice of your own?

Answer:

The main elements of a five paragraph essay are the introduction paragraph with a thesis at the end, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. While these are sometimes difficult constraints to work with, you don't always have to follow them as closely as possible. Sometimes the first sentence of an introduction paragraph can be the thesis, and you can capture the reader with your biggest idea before introducing it. Maybe you only need two larger body paragraphs to explain two sides of an argument, before going into the conclusion in which you choose a side. Understand that the structure of the five paragraph essay exists to help organize an essay with an introduction and conclusion, but doesn't have to be the ultimate rule that you follow.

Answer:

As the quadrants on a coordinate plane are ordered counter-clockwise from the upper right quadrant, which contains all positive numbers, the ordered pair (-3, 4) would fall into the second quadrant, or Quadrant II.

Question:

How can you make different parts of a song, such as the verse and chorus, stand apart from each other?

Answer:

There are a few ways to make your song sections more varied and unique. The obvious choice is to have separate vocal ranges in the verse and chorus, where you sing in a lower range during one section, and adopt a higher range in the other. However, you can also assign different melodic properties to each section. For example, the melody in the verse could involve more syllables and shorter notes, and the chorus could take that melody and stretch it out into longer, more sustained parts. Another great way to give each part of your song its own feel is to have one section lean more towards specific details or memories, and have the other section explore more abstract ideas.
