Why is system's theory important when working with clients?
Systems theory is important when working with a client because it not only factors in the individual, their thoughts, feelings, experiences and behaviors. It also factors in the systems around the client -- their family, their community and the larger societal context for which they live to fully understand the client.
What is the difference between acculturation and assimilation?
Acculturation is the modification of a group or individuals culture pulling from another culture while still maintain unique characteristics of their culture. Assimilation is a what occurs when someone or a group takes on another groups culture.
What theory supports the understanding, and impact, of the relationship between the infant and the caregiver?
Attachment theory explains the dyadic relationship between and infant and its caregiver. A child and a caregiver can either be securely attached or insecurely attached. There are three types of insecure attachment. This relationship can be impacted numerous factors such as parental childhood experiences, substance use and parental mental health
