Subject: Pre-Algebra
Use the Pythagorean theorem to figure out the longest side to this right angled triangle if the one side is 3 inches, the other side is 4 inches.
The pythagorean theorem states that in a right angled triangle it is a2 + b2 = c2. c being the longest side. Therefore 3(3)+ 4(4) =c2. 9 + 16 = c2 25= c2 Square root of 25 is 5. Hence the longest side of the triangle is 5.
Subject: Basic Math
Do the 9 times table from 1 up until 10 and find the pattern in it.
1 x 9 = 9 2 x 9 = 18 3 x 9 = 27 4 x 9 = 36 5 x 9 = 45 6 x 9 = 54 7 x 9 = 63 8 x 9 = 72 9 x 9 = 81 10 x 9 = 90 The pattern is simple, if you multiply a number between 1 and 10 by 9, you can see that the sum of the digits in the answer is equal to 9. we can also see a pattern of n x 9 = (n-1) + (10-n).
