Latin
TutorMe
Question:

Why study a dead language?

Veronica V.
Answer:

It's interesting for one--you can learn about history from a textbook all you like, but only through studying a language are you in active communication with the likes of Julius Caesar, Livy, Ovid, and Cicero. By studying a "dead language" you are interacting with primary sources of history. Alongside that, Latin really is quite a useful language for things like learning Romance languages or even vocabulary (especially for the SAT and ACT!)

Question:

What is the best way to approach writing a paper?

Veronica V.
Answer:

The question. Whether you have a specific essay question in mind or you have to create one yourself, a full understanding of the question is integral to writing a good paper. What precisely do you need to address and argue to successfully write this paper? What is your answer to the question? What is your teacher or whoever assigned you the paper looking for?
