Questions

Subject: Writing

Question:

What is your number one tip for writing a paper?

Krystilyn A.
Answer:

Proofread - multiple times! I find that reading my work out loud helps to catch misspellings and word errors that I otherwise miss. It's also super helpful in assessing the flow of your writing and helps you to identify awkward breaks and missing transitions.

Subject: College Admissions

TutorMe
Question:

What are colleges looking for in the ideal applicant?

Krystilyn A.
Answer:

Colleges are looking for well-rounded students; individuals who have challenged themselves academically and are active members of the community. They value students with volunteer and work experience, as well as those who participate in sports, drama, student organizations, choirs, youth leadership, and student government. Ultimately, they want to admit students who demonstrate a serious commitment to learning and those who will positively contribute to their learning community.

Subject: English as a Second Language

Question:

What are the four basic language skills and why do they matter?

Answer:

The four basic language skills are listening, reading, writing, and speaking. When you are listening and reading, you are consuming a language. When you are writing and speaking, you are producing a language. It is important to equally focus on all four language skills, if you want to properly learn and use a new language.
