What is the first step in Glucose metabolism and why is is
The first step in Glucose metabolism happens after Glucose is transported into the cell. Here it is first phosphorlylated by hexokinase to produce Glucose-6-phosphate. This step is very important as it prevents the glucose from leaving the cell.
How is DNA different from RNA?
1) DNA contains deoxyribose while RNA contains ribose 2) DNA contains thymine while RNA contains uracil 3) DNA is double stranded and forms a double helix while RNA is most often single stranded and forms hairpin like structures as well as other structures
What is the pathway for sound conduction through the outer, middle and inner ear?
Sound is first collected by the cartilagenous pinna, and then funneled down the ear canal where it reaches the tympanic membrane. The tympanic membrane then vibrates the three bones of the middle ear: the mallus incus and stapes. Which ultimately vibrate the oval window of the inner ear, or chochlea. The choclea is a fluid filled space consisting of two membranes which coil in like a snail. The cochlear basilar membrane contains hair cells which are epithelial cells which connect to the auditory nerve via a chemical synapse. Movement of the liquid in the chochlea results in movement of the hair cells which increases the release of the neurotransmitter at the synapse.
