Questions
Subject: Writing
Successful writing is multi--layered, as text must conform to grammatical rules, be understandable by the reader, and reflect what the author wants to say. It is often impossible to know the merit of our work without an editor, yet it can be difficult to have another person review our writing. What are the challenges you see with your own writing process?
Knowing where you need input from an editor -- and being open to seeing your text from their view -- is critical to successful writing. It takes courage to write; it takes even more courage to be willing to change your words to improve the text.
Subject: Study Skills
Some people can memorize facts, other people need connections to help them remember what they are studying. What works best for you?
Successful studying skills change depending on the subject, the test, and the student. Knowing what works best for you is a wise place to start. We can work together to develop strategies that help make studying easier.
Subject: English as a Second Language
English can be so difficult! Some people can understand academic texts, but have trouble speaking. Others can make conversation, but reading and writing are challenging. What's your strength, and where would you like support to improve your English?
I can help you become more confident with speaking and more skilled at reading and writing. Everyone has their own challenges, so knowing where you need to improve will help you to reach your goals.
