Question:

Which film is better: Citizen Kane, or Vertigo?

Answer:

The American Film Institute can't agree on this answer. 20 years ago, the esteemed organization chose "Citizen Kane" as the best film of all time. This is mainly due to the techniques utilized by director Orson Wells. Wild camera movements, mysterious plot devices...all of this was very cutting edge when the film was released. I agree with the 10-year old AFI list. Hitchcock's "Vertigo" may not be terribly innovative, but it's much more entertaining and that's the main goal of any film project.
