Answer:

The theme is what the author is trying to tell the reader. Don't confuse the theme with identifying the subject. Oftentimes the writer will base the text about a war but the theme is what the author's opinion is such as war brings hate to all humanity. In this question, the theme is of gloom, death, or grief. There can be more than one single answer to what a theme is however try to identify the closest answer if it is multiple choice.

Answer:

This is a common question to ask when reading a new text. Setting can range from time frame, to historical events going on in the text. The key things to focus on is what is surrounding the characters or the speaker of the text. Is the speaker in a school, his/her home, or in a confined space? Another thing to consider when asked this question is what is going on historically in the text. Is it during a War or during an apocalypse? This is something that is related to the world of the text.

Answer:

The first step to a problem that asks you to solve for a variable is to identify "Like Terms." Like Terms are of the same variables. Examples are : 2x and x; 3y and 4y. In this problem, 5x and 7x are Like Terms. Your goal is to bring the like terms on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other side. Step 1: Bring 7x to the left side. 5x - 7x +3 = - 1 Note: When you bring numbers or variables to a different side, you will always make their sign opposite. Example, 7x is positive and it turns negative. 5x - 7x = -3x Step 2: Bring 3 to the right side. - 3x + 3 = -1 -3x = -1 - 3 Note: -1 - 3 = -4 Step 3: Divide -3 both sides -3x = -4 Step 4: Indicate your answer: x = -4/-3
