Questions

Subject: English as a Second Language

TutorMe
Question:

Is anyone truly English proficient?

Answer:

English proficiency is a broad scale, and speakers fall in a range of places on this scale. The English language, like many languages, is constantly changing by internal and external influence. As long as learners are able to have their ideas clearly understood by a listener, I believe they have earned the title of proficient. However, this title looks different for every speaker.

What is your favorite part of teaching English?

Answer:

I like to explore characterization and symbolism. It is fun for students to find similarities in characters that they share personally, as well as to find characters to be brave or excited in situations that may at first intimidate students. Symbolism I find interesting because it adds an extra layer to what is written and read that can be enticing to advanced learners.

Answer:

I think that the goal of Education today should be to create life-long learners and critical thinkers. Students should be excited about learning, and should want to seek the truth of the information they are taking in daily.
