About Meagan
Currently, I am an Americorps VISTA with the Alaska State Library: Libraries Build Communities Project. I recently graduated from Reed College in Portland, OR, with a B.A. in History. Since then, I have lived all over the United States working with Americorps, the Student Conservation Association, and the National Parks Service, learning different methods for research and education and conducting everything from outdoor classrooms to informal interpretation, for everyone from elementary students to lifelong learners.
Teaching Experience
Growing up with teachers, I learned not just how to excel at my studies, but how school and education work. Volunteering as a classroom aide and private tutor has given me experience with individual and groups of students, including special needs students, in addition to curriculum design and classroom management. I have worked at educational summer programs with gifted and ESL students, during which I tutored individual students, designed and taught a literature elective, and taught reading and discussion groups.
