Answer:

A position statement and thesis statement are very similar; never the less, the main difference between the two is very important. A thesis statement and position statement both reflect the writer's opinion on a topic, and guide the content of the writer's piece. However, a position statement is meant to persuade the reader while a thesis statement is meant to inform the reader.

Question:

What is the difference between a topic sentence and a thesis statement?

Answer:

A topic sentence is usually used in a narrative writing piece and tells the reader what the narrative will be about. A topic sentence can also be used in a paragraph to make sure the reader understands what the information in the paragraph will be about. A thesis statement is usually used in an expository writing piece. A thesis statement shows the writers opinion or position on a topic and lets the reader know what the writer will be proving or providing support for through out the writing piece.
