Question:

In 1 Corinthians, when the Apostle Paul spoke about prophesying in part and knowing in part, what was he referring to?

Answer:

The Apostle Paul in his letter to church at Corinth, was exhorting the church for having left its "first love", although they had an abundance of Spiritual Gifts that God had given them, in accordance to the promise that the Lord Jesus Christ had given His disciples before parting. In these verses, found in chapter 13, the Apostle Paul was exhorting the church to not rely solely on having this spiritual gifts. The Church "prophesies" in part, because a part of God's congregation is the manifestation of His power, but it also has to "know" in part, because that regards knowing the doctrine to be able to live a sound life; which is what the Apostle was exhorting them for, as it was made known to him that they were living in fornication.
