What does the phrase "Que buen vasallo seria si tuviese buen señor" mean?
This phrase is from the Spanish Epic Poem, The Song of The Cid (Cantar del Mio Cid). It literally translates to "What a good vassal he would be, if only he had a good Lord." This phrase means that the King of Castile was not being such a good lord to the Cid, and that the Cid was a good vassal, and he deserved better.

Why did European colonizers came to the New World?
There were different reasons why European colonizers came to the new world. For example Spain had both economic and religious motivation. The Reconquista had emptied Spain's reserves after 700 years of war against the muslims in Spain. They wanted to venture in the New World in order to build wealth from trade and mining. Additionally, they felt they had the obligation to convert the natives to Christianity. The British and The French, though less concerned in the New World, still wanted to colonize the Americas in order to profit from cash crops and find a passage to Asia to trade with China without going through the possessions of Spain.
